Resumo:
The present work on financial education in the education of students has the general objective
of investigating the understanding and knowledge of high school students about financial
education and the way they deal with their financial resources. To this end, we seek to, a)
discuss the importance of Financial Education composing the mathematics work of Basic
Education, especially in High School, b) identifying whether in the school and family
trajectory of students there was systematic work related to Education Financial, and c) map,
through academic productions, suggestions and methods to develop the teaching of Financial
Education in context with financial mathematics. The study is considered to be of a theoretical
nature with a qualitative and quantitative approach and the objectives are classified as
descriptive. The investigation was carried out in the field with three classes from the 2nd year
of high school in a public school in the municipality of Várzea-PB. The data collection
instrument is an online questionnaire, through Google Forms. In general, the study revealed
that the students' level of knowledge about Financial Education is insufficient, as well as the
habits of how they deal with their finances, showing the lack of mastery and understanding of
mathematical contents. It also made it possible to locate quality materials, specially designed
for Financial Education, articulating mathematical education and financial mathematics. The
didactic suggestions present diversified proposals to assist and simplify the teaching of
mathematics and Financial Education, thus enriching the possibilities of applications of the
content in these areas.
