This paper aims to analyze the democratic quality of Brazil between the years 1988 and 2019 taking into account the country's levels of political participation. The indicators used in its development are the result of a theoretical result made on several literatures tangent to the theme, in order to synthesize the main aspects to be analyzed to assess the quality of the Brazilian democratic regime in the proposed time frame. Thus, as for the objective, this research is exploratory-descriptive because, before a preliminary qualitative analysis of the theoretical material, secondary data was quantitatively addressed for the materialization of its results. Thus, the method used was the hypothetical-deductive, so that from the uncertainty about the levels of democracy in Brazil from the promulgation of the constitution in force, the work is developed based on the hypothesis that the country is going through a period of considerable imbalance in its democratic regime, given the most varied circumstances experienced in recent years. Ahead, after analyzing the respective data, the hypothesis was ratified by the interesting numbers
achieved among the surveyed indicators, demonstrating marked instability in the democracy and political participation indexes from mid-2014 to the present. Finally, with all the information and objectives, the main factors directly influencing the fall in democratic quality were pointed out, as well as the main circumstances that may have contributed to these results
